My adventures in Maine

I recently made my first ever trip to Maine.  Having lived in CT my entire life, that’s hard to believe.  My best friend, Laurie, has a sister, Miriam, with an amazing new house overlooking the water.  Miriam invited us up for a “girl’s weekend”, but only if we could go antiquing.  Well, sign me up for that trip!  We were there from Friday to Monday and shopped ’til we dropped.  Although Miriam didn’t know of too many antique centers, I assured her that once we found the first one, they would have a brochure listing many others.   Of course, I was was right.

Thus, my hunt for Wedgwood china began.  Our first stop was lucrative – a service for 12 in a 1960’s pattern in addition to 12 dinner plates in another pattern.  That gave me hope that I would find many treasures for my Wedgwood china replacement inventory which is quickly outgrowing  my garage.

All in all, it was a great weekend.  I found lots of Wedgwood to sell, the weather was perfect and the company was great.  Miriam’s daughter provided us with huge, fresh caught lobsters for dinner on Saturday.  They were in the water at their dock until the water boiled on the stove.  Talk about fresh lobsters!!  I was also surprised with a birthday cake since my birthday was the following week.  Monday, on the drive home, Laurie and I stopped at 2 more large antique centers and found more Wedgwood.  What a lucrative and fun trip it was.  I can’t wait to go back!  Thanks again to my special friends, Laurie and Miriam, for the best weekend ever!

There is so much special Wedgwood bone china out there.  I have an amazing selection in my inventory that is gold and white.  I had an idea to offer it for sale to brides to be to incorporate in their special day.  It can be used at the rehearsal dinner or on their wedding day for the bride and groom to have their first piece of wedding cake.  What a wonderful memento to have forever as a reminder of their everlasting love.  Are you the mother/sister/grandmother/friend of someone about to be married?  What a great gift, one that will last forever.  Why not go through my inventory or get in touch with me about a special purchase.  See the sample picture I have listed.  There is lots more where that came from.

Special Wedgwood for the Bride to Be

Two weeks ago I attended the final Brimfield of 2009.  For those of you who aren’t familiar, Brimfield is a small town in southern Massachusetts that hosts thousands of antique dealers 3 weeks out of the year.  Labor Day week is the last one.  I am lucky enough to live a little more than an hour away so I drive back and forth on Wednesday & Friday and shop ’til I drop.  Wednesday was about as good weather as you can get, sunny, low 70’s, no humidity and no wind.  I got there about 6AM and left at 12:30 with lots of interesting Wedgwood.  Although I always hope for sets of bone china, I did get some interesting dinner plates, blue historical plates and even a few pieces of cobalt dipped jasper.  With a little less energy and enthusiasm, I drove back on Friday.  Luckily the first show doesn’t open until 8AM so I got to SLEEP LATE, until 5:30.  Sadly the weather was horrible – cool, rainy and windy.  I walked from 8AM until about 11AM when I declared myself crazy and headed for home.  In spite of the weather, I still managed to bring home some goodies to list on ebay.  Anyone who hasn’t been to Brimfield and has the opportunity to go should do so.  Look for me…..I’ll be walking briskly around the fields with a tee shirt or jacket that reads “I BUY/SELL WEDGWOOD”.
